Video Review Coming Soon

You will like this haunt if: you are looking for a good quality haunt that bridges the gap between family friendly and extreme.
You will not like this haunt if: you expect over the top detailing. This haunt is in a functioning public park; there is only so much you can do with those restrictions.
Things this haunt does well:
-
Flashlights are a nice ambient, appropriate, and innovative touch.
-
Sticks to theme.
-
Uses the woods to its advantage. The meandering path is just confusing enough to leave you unsettled and the trees themselves are quite intimidating.
-
Length of the attraction was good.
Areas to improve:
-
Price. $20 is what we would expect to pay for top of the line sets. $15 is more appropriate.
-
It was difficult to find the entrance from parking lot.
-
Ticket taker could play into theme. She could be the lookout for her friends who are searching for the Goat Man. Leaving fake voicemails as she paces back and forth and timing the groups then sending us in to find her friends. We could even encounter her friends later only to have them be dragged away!
-
Utilizing dead space between scenes. A few dummies in costume in the woods along the way (have a few be real, of course) or a ghillie suit would help to drive tension. There are also great opportunities for overhead scares.
-
The church scene felt like a missed opportunity. It had build up looming in the woods but nothing happened and the set had nothing to distinguish it as a church. Even a sacrificial altar or shrine would have been better. A Blair Witch like feel with stick dolls, fake candles, and symbols etched in blood for the worshipers of Baphomet.
-
First scene, train car, was cool but belonged closer to the circus.
-
Actors seemed to lack energy or good dialogue; need a good coach.
Our favorite scene: The circus. Most haunts take a circus theme in the killer clown direction. This classic circus was quite refreshing. The lighting in this area was fantastic and we loved the vinyl banners which felt suitably vintage. The fog-filled train tunnel at the end was excellent too. The campfire scene with the Boy Scout was fun. Having a camp counselor sit you down by the fire and tell you the legend of the Goat Man would add some great interaction.
Our favorite actor: The marionette girl. She was one of the only characters to truly interact with us and did so extensively. Second best was the Dog-Faced Man, who took the character in an interesting direction and did so convincingly. Third best was the Goat Man: lots of intensity.
